Mayra Becerra

Mayra Becerra earned her A.S. with High Honors and her B.A.S. Magna Cum Laude from Broward College. Currently, she is a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician III at Memorial Hospital West. Her passion for Biomed extends to professional organizations where she brings her talent and leadership. She serves as chair of SFAMI (South Florida Association of Medical Instrumentation), she is an executive board member for FBS (Florida Biomedical Society), and is a member of AAMI in the Healthcare Technology Management division. About her connection to Broward College, Mayra says: “I started my journey at BC in 2012 when I joined the ESL program. Two years later, after finishing the program, I wanted to get into Engineering, saw that BC was offering an A.S. in Engineering Technology with a focus on Biomedical Engineering, and decided to join this program. I graduated with my A.S. in 2016 and immediately got a job as a Biomed Technician I at a local hospital. In 2017, I decided to continue my education and returned to BC to pursue my B.A.S. in Technology Management. In 2022 I graduated with my B.A.S. and this helped me to get promoted to a senior-level position. BC didn’t just give me the education to be a successful woman in the Healthcare Technology Management field, but also gave me long-lasting friends that are still in my life.”
